Hello form Shetland

Hi guys

I got the chance to buy a Cav Turbo unfinished project a few weeks ago so went for a look and now it's in my garage.

It's an L plate, satin red done 99k. It's been stripped by the previous owner and he has done a fair bit of welding but it needs a lot more. Will get a project thread going shortly.

I've had a few Vauxhalls over the years, had a D plate SRi130 saloon when I was 17 and swapped it for a J reg GSi. Had fords for years then got a Phase 1 Vectra GSi in 2010, was a fine car but got offered a part ex for an H reg GSi so took it. Sold that in 2011 and now I have the Turbo. Oh forgot to mention I've had a few Opel Mantas as well. I restored our current one in 2010, D reg coupe with a C20XE and my wife has been using it as her daily driver since. It's now needing a bit of work so the sooner i get the turbo on the road for her the better.

Will get some pics up soon.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Here's a couple of pics for you. The last GSi I had

Our Manta we run now

The Manta runs a standard Redtop so it's pretty economical to use as a daily with plenty of poke when youn need it. Quaife LSD makes it a lot more controlable in the wet as well! It's needing work so will come off the road as soon as the Turbo is on the road.

Here's some pics of it the day I took it into my workshop, this is the way it was when I bought it

Nice to see one end up with someone who certainly appears to be an enthusiast, gets a bit boring people buying then not really knowing what they are letting themselves in for then selling them after a few months or so, car does the rounds slowly losing money until one of the local breakers picks it up...

There is one other one left, satin red again. Not been on the road for a good few years now but apparently pretty rotten and the family will never sell it. Yeah old mk2... don't really know what to say, it's absolutely muck rotten. Keeping my eyes peeled for a half decent shell close to home.

This is where it came from, what you would call a barn find!

Maybe some day.

Thanks guys. The MK2 had the original RS 4 spokes on it when we went to pick it up but the tyres were all flat and brakes siezed so just put on the series 1 wheels to get it rolling.

Project thread now started for the Cav.
