Scottish newbie hello
Hello all. I'm a car mentalist (almost a collector these days) and cav lover from way back & after seing a cav turbo the other day, it made me realise I want one.
I used to own a calibra turbo & a cav gsi but never the cav turbo. So I want one now to add to my collection of cars.
Currently in the collection
1989 sapphire cosworth
2002 audi S8
2000 volvo t5 estate
1997 VW camper
2003 Ford fiesta
1997 BMW 728
I suspect Iv forgot a few..
Iv owned a fair old range of cars thru the years. (Honda Accord Type R amongst the more random ones) I always wanted a cav turbo & sold my gsi to fund it. Temptation got the better of me & I bought a calibra turbo.
Horrible mistake & the worst car Iv ever owned.
Should have held out for the cavalier.
I used to be a member of cavweb in the old old days & spent much of my youth posting randomness online about cars.
Anyway, il be keeping my eye out.

The s8 is an utter beaut of a machine. True dream to drive. I doubt il ever sell it tbh. Comfy, sporty, shit yer pants quick and with the luxuries of a high end car. It can stay with the Cossie in the garage.
The cavalier I had was a good one, it appears the calibra was quite the opposite. Had loads of shitty problms with it - clutch - tx box - water pump - randomly stopped working (immobiliser problem) turbo gave up & I eventually blew it up. Just not a good car that's all. I wanted a cavalier turbo but they were always thin on the ground so opted for option 2 rather than hang on til I got the right one.

Re: Scottish newbie hello
I spend a fair chunk of time sat in traffic which is the one thing that puts me off the S8, and they are an auto which I'm not a fan of either...

The beauty of the auto is that it's so much more comfortable & Easy to drive in traffic than a manual. Infact - I hate the stop start in a manual. I get very annoyed. Not in an auto tho.
U don't need to spend time balancing clutches, swapping pedals etc.
It's a car that's built for long (fast) journeys.
If ur in traffic, uv got a bose sound system, an in built tv, climate control, double glazing, heated recaros & plenty of room to stretch out.
It is honestly the most beautiful And complete car iv ever driven (and iv driven a lot)
But the fuel bills are crippling. Lol. Each to their own tho.
Thanks everyone for the welcome. I feel at home here already. It's a friendly atmosphere like the old days when I wasted my nights away on Cavweb.

Yeah its the fuel bills that putting me off, I do about 30 miles a day but a fair chunk of that is sat sub 50mph..
I'll find out at the end of the month what's happening car wise anyways, I've just had a bit of a jump in wages so can throw another £100 a month at fuel

A '63 plate S3 bombed past me on the way to work the other morning, looked nice and went well too !
4x4 hatchbacks is quite a limited list anyway, S3, A3 Quattro, escort cossie, , new Scooby and evo (if your feeling flush), pulsar gtir (if your a tart), Golf 4 motion ?
